    Bridge Bike Hire, for the Camel trail in Wadebridge, offering a host of options for anyone who wants to cycle on the Camel Trail between Bodmin and Padstow.

    In addition to standard 2-wheel options (men's, women's and children's of different sizes), there are also trailers for children and dogs, tag-alongs for children, tandems, wheelchair tandems, tag-alongs with trike wheels for stability, and electric bikes.

    Detailed description

    At Bridge Bike Hire there is a friendly welcome and a bike for everyone, young, old or four legged! Bridge Bike Hire is the original cycle hire on the Camel Trail and is situated right on the start of the Camel Trail in Wadebridge.  Bridge Bike Hire's courtyard leads straight onto the Camel Trail giving you traffic free access to the Camel Trail with your bikes, avoiding the busy road.

    Booking is highly recommended this year with optional reduced rate hire available from 2pm (March-September)

    Helmets are also available, and a puncture repair / cycle maintenance kit is sent out with every group.

     

    The Camel Trail

    The Camel Trail runs along the old railway line between Bodmin and the coast at Padstow, via Wadebridge. There are several routes that you can choose, from Bridge:

    Wadebridge to Padstow - 5 miles each way  - Open views across the estuary, amazing wildlife, stunning scenery.

    Wadebridge to Bodmin - 6 miles each way - Woodland paradise with acres of wildlife, river birds, foxes and deer. (mostly level)

    Wadebridge to Wenfordbridge - 12.2 miles each way, starting off very flat rising to a slight incline which is most noticeable on the way back. - Thick Forest, beautiful hamlets and a less travelled trail

    Bikes

    Bridge Bike Hire has been operating for over 30 years and spend a lot of time each year trying to source the most comfortable seats, the best and safest children's trailers, and bikes, as well as investing in equipment to make the trail accessible to all abilities.

    The team is happy to advise you regarding the most suitable bike with options for children of all ages, and dogs!  All groups are given a lock, puncture repair kit and any help or advice they need.

    Toilet facilities

    No toilet facilities are listed, but the Camel Trail website has a page of places to eat along the trail, which will have facilities, so you can look them up and see what's available.

    There are public toilets at The Platt (near the start of the Camel Trail), and Egloshayle in Wadebridge.

    There is a Changing Places toilet in the Foundation Building, Wadebridge, PL27 7AL. very close to Bridge bike hire.

    Mobility / Wheelchair Support

    The Wheelchair tandem bike is designed to take a wheelchair on a platform in front of the person pedalling, and is said to accommodate manual or motorised chairs.

    Adult trailers can accommodate those who aren't able to manage a bike for themselves, but have upper body stability.

    Adult trikes are available for those who have the strength to pedal alone, but not the stability to manage a two-wheeled bike.

    Vision Impairment Support

    No specific information is given about support for people with visual impairments, but tandem bikes, and adult trailers are available, for those who are unsafe to cycle on their own. Trailers are also available to carry dogs, and are supplied with water bowls and water.

    Hearing Impairment Support
