    Take to the water and hire a kayak, canoe, paddleboard or sail boat or, if you have your own kit, you can launch it on the lake and experience a completely different view of Tamar,

    The three mile circular path around the upper lake is also suitable for bikes, pushchairs and wheelchairs. Don't forget the camera - the countryside is humming with wildlife; why not see what you can spot from one of the bird hides?

    We aim to provide social inclusion and accessibility for all. We want more people to engage with the outdoors and have fun, irrespective of ability, age and background.

    Fishing tuition is available for all ages, and Tamar Lakes is an award-winning coarse fishery.

    Self-launch is charged per craft per day, for canoes, kayaks dinghies, SUPs, and windsurfing, subject to checks and insurance. Membership options are available for those who would like to use this regularly.

    Tamar Lakes campsite

    Enjoy a family friendly camping holiday at Tamar Lakes on the Devon and Cornwall border. Experience sleeping under canvas or glamp in our wooden pod. Tamar Lakes offers a unique outdoors camping holiday near the Cornish coastal town of Bude.

    Bring your own tent, caravan or motorhome, or hire the glamping pod (sleeps 4 in 2 pairs of bunk beds)

    Parking

    Parking is £2 for 2 hours or £4 all day. Friends of South West Lakes receive a free parking pass for all of 5 of their car parks.

    Toilet facilities

    The site benefits from maintained and accessible paths suitable for both pushchairs and wheelchairs.

    Wheelyboat

    We have worked with the Wheelyboat Trust to provide five boats at our lakes. Our wheelyboats provide accessibility for less able visitors to our lakes and ensure that wheelchair users can enjoy independent access onto the water.

    Our wheelyboats display the South West Lakes Trusts’ charitable aims for social inclusion and exploration of the outdoors for all. Our wheelchair friendly boats allow visitors to the lake to benefit directly from a variety of inclusive activities such as pleasure boating, trout and coarse fishing, bird and nature watching.

    You will need to have prior training before being able to drive a wheelyboat, training is of no additional cost, you will only be required to pay for hire of the boat.

    Dogs are welcome at the lakes, but must be kept on a lead and out of the water.
