Mobility / Wheelchair Support

The museum is housed in an old market building with sloping granite floors and some uneven surfaces. The front door has a set of steps and they have flat access through an entrance on the right side of the building. There is lift access to all floors and staff are really happy to answer any accessibility queries you may have. Email: info@museumofcornishlife.co.uk Tel: 01326 564027

There are disabled toilets, which have enough room for smaller wheelchairs.

There are some steps in some areas.

There are also some cobbles to consider when using the side entrance access for wheelchairs and mobility aids.

Vision Impairment Support

Whilst mainly all flat, we feel there were some steps which may cause people with visual impairment some problems. There is a helpful 6 minute audio guide on the accessibility page. Also to assist (request on entry) the museum offers  a sensory backpack which contains a magnifying glass.

The site has a route that is natural to follow, everything leads onto the next area and back again. There is lots to see and read on route with the addition of video displays as well as static and interactive ones. Some areas are naturally quieter than others. There is a sensory map online and a sensory kit available (request on entry) to use  containing a magnifying glass, ear defenders, fidget toys, soft companion dragon, sensory map of the museum and a mystical beasts trail sheet.
