Mobility / Wheelchair Support

Access within the gardens
Most of the 13-acre Gardens, which includes; Productive Gardens, Pleasure Grounds and Home Farm are accessible and there is also access to the Steward’s House.

The Gardens lie on a gentle downhill gradient, so please remember this when you want to make your way back to the exit.

The Jungle and Wider Estate are unfortunately not easily accessible to everyone. The gradients of the pathways to these areas are very steep and sometimes the route involves wooden boardwalk and steps. For this reason and your safety, we kindly ask wheelchair users to refrain from entering these areas.

Our Ticket Office has free garden maps and Accessible Heligan maps, which will help you to get an idea of the site and its size. For specific and detailed information about our paths, please feel free to refer to our full access guide.

Manual wheelchairs are available to borrow, free of charge, from the Ticket Office on a first-come, first-served basis.

Assistance dogs on harnesses are welcome throughout the year and water bowls are available around the gardens.

The disabled toilet facilities include RoomMate visual description installed to assist blind and visually impaired visitors, as well as baby changing facilities.

The main Heligan leaflet can be downloaded in advance, to allow for a version to be prepared according to a reader's needs, or prepared as an audio file.

The Guide includes extensive notes on what is around you at different points in the paths, and what you can smell, feel and hear.

Assistance dogs on harnesses are welcome throughout the year and water bowls are available around the gardens.
