A lot of thought has been given to making the site accessible to those in wheelchairs, wherever possible, but some of the buildings have steps, or are of limited space inside. The Accessibility Guide gives clear information about every building on site, to allow visitors to gauge for themselves what will and will not be possible for them. The underground portion of the site is not wheelchair accessible.
There is a 3D VR experience of the underground portion of the site for those who cannot get there themselves. Ask at reception. See this YouTube clip for how they made the experience.
There are lots of places to sit across the site.
There are two lifts, in the mine shop/cafe and the Hard Rock museum. There is also a wheelchair available on site for those who wish to use it.
We welcome dogs across the entire museum site, with the exception of the underground mine. We provide drinking water for them at various places across the site. Assistance dogs are welcome across the whole site without exception.
Geevor is an environment that is experienced through all the senses. Films with audio that give information about the heritage play in The Hard Rock Museum Cinema and Tin Floors. A large print guide and map are available from reception. There are large print signs on displays around the site, in most areas.
Some areas have low lighting levels.
The underground portion of the site has low light levels, uneven flooring and low/narrow tunnels.
Steps within the buildings are marked with white paint. There are some areas with uneven flooring (eg railway tracks running into buildings).
