    Accessible Holiday Cottages in Cornwall

    Description

    Our specially converted self-catering cottages, set in a peaceful 82 acre farm, are perfect for disabled holidays in Cornwall, providing fully wheelchair accessible accommodation with free use of all mobility equipment.

    All bedrooms are ensuite.

    Each accessible bedroom has an ensuite wetroom which consists of a level access wheel-in shower, toilet with drop arm rail beside and washbasin with a clear under space. The floors are fitted with non-slip flooring.

    160kg ceiling hoists have also now been fitted in both cottages to allow easy transfer from bed to wheel/shower chair.

    The kitchen in each cottage is fully equipped and has a hob, which can be lowered if necessary and it has a clear under space.

    The outside decked areas with seating and BBQs are accessible to all.

    A hearing loop is fitted in each property. Each property has wireless internet access.

    We have numerous items which guests are welcome to use free of charge. Please reserve any of the following when booking.

    There are two four-section electric profiling beds (with bed sides if needed). Our new four-section profiling beds have a 145kg weight limit and can be adjusted to the Trendelenburg position.
    Profiling beds can have Softform Active 2 Air Mattress or Softform Premier Pressure Relieving foam mattress

    If care is needed this too can be arranged through local care agencies who are familiar with both properties and their facilities.

    Parking

    Private parking is available by the ramp to the front door of the cottages.

    Toilet facilities

    Each shower-room is wet room style with high specification non slip flooring fitted in the wetrooms and bathrooms.

    Doors have 760mm clear opening.

    Fully adjustable thermostatically controlled shower.

    Wheeled and legged shower chairs are available, please enquire.

    Basins have rims between 740mm and 760mm from floor level, quarter turn lever action taps and wheelchair access beneath.

    Wheelchair turning circle of 1500mm.

    Toilets have a drop-down support arm and side grab rail.

    Light pulls are at 1100mm.

    Mobility / Wheelchair Support

    Treworgans Farm Holidays comprise of two specially converted and tastefully furnished cottages. Buzzard Watch has two bedrooms and sleeps up to 4 people and is all on one level while Valley View with three bedrooms sleeps up to 6 people and has the accessible level comprises of an open plan kitchen and living room and a large accessible bedroom that has an ensuite wetroom the other two bedrooms are accessed via stairs. All doorways to accessible rooms are a MINIMUM of 770mm (most are over 800mm wide). All showers are wet-room style with NO step into shower area, kitchens have accessible hob and sink and 850mm wide x 350mm deep and 700mm high clear space under for wheelchair access. Light switches and electrical sockets at 1000mm.

    Available for guest’s use are BHM mobile hoists which have the same sling attachments as Oxford type hoists (please bring your own sling/harness), electric 4-section profiling beds which can either have a foam pressure mattress or a Softform Active 2 dynamic air mattress, wheeled reclining shower chair, self propelled or assisted wheeled shower chairs, shower-chair commode, high back chairs with arms, bed height raisers, toilet seat raisers and a kitchen perching stool. Other more specialist equipment can he hired from a local supplier.

    The hob and sink have clear space under for wheelchair access.

    Both cottages have large level decked areas outside and are accessed directly from the cottages. Gentle ramped access is provided from the car parks. Both car parks are surfaced with concrete.

    Autism support

    A video and photographs of the cottages and the gardens is available to help guests familiarise themselves with the cottages. We have also provided visual diagrams of the layouts of each cottage.

    The cottages are set in an area of peaceful countryside with low levels of noise or disturbances other than sounds from the natural environment.
