Lanhydrock Hotel and Golf Club

The hotel and golf club is located off a  private  road is well sign posted ( be careful  when entering  the road as there is an unmarked speed ramp within 10 metres of the junction).   It benefits  from  a large gently sloping tarmac car park with 6  disabled bays close to the main  entrance.   There are no Located approximately 1.5 mile from Bodmin and a similar distance  from  a junction  with the A30.

No kerbs to worry about.  On entering  there is a large lobby and reception  area and a disabled toilet (complying with Document M Building Regulations 2010)  is located close to the entrance to the bar and bistro (Nineteen)  and signed above the entrance to the members locker / changing room.

There  is a seating areas adjoining the reception and overlooking  the golf course,  this generally  is a quieter location.

The bistro and bar are on the same level (no steps) and is open and airy with glass walling to the golf course. Both areas have carpeted floor which helps  to keep noise levels to an acceptable level for people with normal hearing.  In the weekdays food is ordered from the menu, on Sundays there is a carvery, I visited on a Sunday when the  bistro was full to capacity, were shown to our table by helpful staff, and then invited in turn to queue  for their meal (thus limiting congestion). The waiting staff were more than willing to assist and carry meals from the carvery for guests who found it difficult to manage.  Tables are set to benefit from the views, but there is one alcove area within the bar area and also there appears to be a quiet corner within the bistro which  provides more of an enclosed and quieter  setting.  Additionally  there is outdoor  seating accessible, via a portable ramp.  Table service is available.   The Sunday lunch was very popular between  noon and 2pm, but the atmosphere  felt relaxing. The bistro has approximately 60 covers, the bar area also provides a similar number of covers for dining.

The reception and carvery have lowered counter areas, but the bar is normal height.  Food and drinks are paid for at the bar, the card machine is easily handed to anyone in a wheelchair.

A lift suitable for wheel chair users to access first and second floor rooms is to be found in the entrance area  outside the entrance to the bar.

The hotel has 3 rooms suited to disabled visitor they have lower beds and full disabled bathroom facilities. On the ground floor there is a double and a twin room, there is also a twin room on the upper floor (lift access)

The venue actively encourages contact to discuss, to see if they can meet an individual’s needs.

All staff were friendly and accommodating and nothing appears to be to much trouble.  Club members at the time of my visit were equally helpful.

It is an ideal visitor base to explore the whole of Cornwall.  Locally the National Trust  Lanhydrock House garden and grounds are only 1mile away. Bodmin gives easy access to the Camel trail and cycle path (on a former railway line), thus very gentle gradients through  the countryside via Wadebridge (half way) and finishing in Padstow some 12 miles away.  For those who like wine it passes close to the vineyard of Camel Wines.  In Bodmin there are 3 main attractions – Bodmin gaol now a hotel but  they have a visitors  centre, there is the privately owned railway and  the Bodmin  keep,  Cornwall’s military  and history museum.
