Arrival
On arrival the accessible parking is right by the path to the front door, the signage is simple and clear. Its a small slope but step free access to the reception. The doors are automatic. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The main route to the hotel is wide and newly tarmaced. It has lighting all the way from the car park to the main entrance. It is on a hill but a gentle one.
Accommodation
The studios are on ground level, it is easy to get to. The door widths are all a good size. The light switches are easy to reach. Min clear door width is 80cm in the bathroom
The kitchen has most of the equipment within reach. The bedrooms have emergency pull cords by the beds. It's all one level, no rugs and very clean and tidy.
It should be noted that the accessible toilets throughout are slightly lower than the recommended height of 450mm and this can cause challenges with transfers. Please contact the team for more information about this.
Health Club and Pool
There is a ramp and steps to the health club. The stairs are well lit, have a hand rail and good contrasting.
There is a large lobby and welcoming entrance. The corridor isn't wide enough for two people to comfortably walk down together but is short with a clear view at each end. The end of the corridor is a large lobby area with access to the toilets including an accessible toilet. This suite is all one level and easy to access. Both rooms were in use on our site visit but both appeared to be clear and tidy and easy to access and use.
The pool area is accessed via a ramp or walk down steps. There are large double doors to get in and a choice of changing rooms. There is one large accessible changing room/toilet. The access into the pool to swim is via steps with hand rails or using a pool hoist. The hoist comes with its own sling. It's a very warm pool which is great for someone with mobility issues who may get colder due to lack of movement.
Cafe and bar
The bar and restaurant is on one level with easy access to the toilets. There are ample seats and tables and all in different ‘zones’ so you can pick and choose where to sit. There is also access to outside via two large doors with low threshold access.
Toilets
There are a number of toilets to use in the public areas. They all have accessible options and all are a good size. They all have pull cords that reach to the floor, large bins, drop down handles and grab rails, all easy to access with wide doors and clear turning space. They are all clean and well presented.
The corridors and walkways are constantly lit, clear from unnecessary furniture and steps all have a ramp option. All the steps have double hand rails and contrasting nosing. All corridors have room for two people passing and all doors to corridors have full glass vision panels. In places where it is narrower there is good vision to see people coming and space to wait. Any carpeted areas are carpeted with a low pile carpet. There are no lifts in Sea Space. All the accessible rooms are on ground level and all the amenities are also on ground level. Despite the close proximity of the bar the rooms are very quiet.

Staff have signed up to the Makaton Initiative and there are also quiet spaces around SeaSpace.
SeaSpace offers quiet spaces, a sensory garden and a range or accessible play activities both for groups and quieter solo activities for children who wish to play by themselves. The pool area is calm and tranquil.
Signage is minimal. There is good colour contrast and suitable use of upper and lower case to make them easier for people who are dyslexic to read. The SeaSpace team have signed up to the Makaton Initiative.
