We’re thrilled to introduce Nick Carr, our adventurous volunteer, who is taking to the skies to support Access Cornwall! Nick will perform a tandem skydive from Perranporth Airfield with the Cornwall Parachute Club, weather permitting. This daring jump aims to raise vital funds and awareness to help more volunteers, like Nick, experience the incredible adventures Cornwall has to offer and become part of our valued team of reviewers.
Why This Skydive Matters
Nick’s skydive is not just about the thrill; it’s about making a difference. By raising funds, we can support volunteers in exploring Cornwall’s beautiful landscapes and venues, providing crucial accessibility reviews that benefit the entire community. Our mission is to ensure that everyone, regardless of mobility, can enjoy all that Cornwall has to offer.
We’re also hoping that, Nick’s skydive and amazing sense of adventure, will hopefully inspire others who live with disabilities and health conditions to feel confident enough to try new adventures of their own, whether that is braving a zipwire, or something a bit simpler such as venturing out to a performance or a new cafe.
It may sound very simple, but many people who live with accessibility challenges, such as dementia, mobility, vision or hearing impairment or differences such as autism, don’t venture out and enjoy the things that many people in Cornwall take for granted.
Would you buy tickets to a music event if you weren’t sure about the wheelchair access? Or would you go out on a family trip to an attraction if you weren’t sure if a disabled member of the family would be able to enjoy it?
Some of the individuals we work with have not left their home for anything other than a medical appointment in over five years.

Access Cornwall is dedicated to making places to eat, visit, stay and explore around Cornwall accessible to as many people as possible. We provide detailed reviews and information about the accessibility of various locations, events, and services throughout Cornwall. Our mission is to empower individuals with disabilities to enjoy Cornwall to the fullest by providing reliable information and advocating for greater accessibility.
Our team of reviewers, many of whom are volunteers like Nick, all have lived experience of accessibility challenges themselves. We visit venues across Cornwall to assess their accessibility. This includes evaluating physical access, facilities, and customer service to ensure they meet the needs of as many individuals as possible. Through our efforts, we aim to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone.

Nick will be skydiving in style, wearing a hoodie that proudly declares, “I am Skydiving in aid of Access Cornwall July 2024.” Becky, one of our dedicated team members, is planning a special video with Nick to promote this exciting event. Additionally, we aim to have someone on-site to interview Nick and document his jump, capturing the heart and spirit of this mission.
