Mobility / Wheelchair Support

The Visitor Centre is fully accessible, on a single level and contains no steps. It is situated at the top of a valley garden that drops to a beach below.

  • Low counters are provided at the Entrance Desk and in the Shops
  • A wheelchair is available within the Visitor Centre
  • Free access is given to a viewing area of the Garden Valley for those unable to use the pathways
  • There is step-free access from the car park towards the Visitor Centre
  • The floor is concrete and level throughout the Visitor Centre, (including the Cafe, Gift Shop and Garden Shop,
  • however these facilities are currently closed)
  • The Cafe has step-free access to an outside seating area
  • There is ample room between tables for wheelchairs
Vision Impairment Support
  • All areas are well and event lit
  • There are no glass screens that would impair lip reading
  • Perspex screens are temporarily in use
Hearing Impairment Support
  • We have a portable hearing loop available at the Entrance
  • Key staff in each department have disability awareness training

    This is such a beautiful, tranquil garden leading down to the beach. Some of the paths are a bit tricky for wheelchairs, but they can be navigated with care and there are alternate routes. A lovely sensory experience which my autistic nephew wants to go back to time and time again.
