    Description

    Located in the heart of the Lizard Peninsula, Trevassack Lake is highly accessible 26-acre site dedicated to watersports and sailing activities with a focus on accessible watersports activities. There are also some luxury lodges and cabins which are very accessible and a cafe on site.

    CST Experiences is a not-for-profit organisation supporting the work of charity, Children’s Sailing Trust, and offers numerous courses and taster sessions for all ages and abilities, covering sailing, kayaking, open water swimming and much more, both at Trevassack Lake and on the nearby Helford River.

    The ethos at Trevassack Lake is that all activities are available to people of all abilities – they will find a way to get you out on the water, whether in an adapted sailing dinghy or taking you in your wheelchair out on the solar-powered ‘Floaty’.

    Detailed description

    CST Experiences are on a mission to bring the best experiences to people of all ages and all abilities with watersports activities, lakeside activities and range of events here in West Cornwall.

    They welcome everyone from 6 to 106 on the water, no matter if you’re a beginner or a pro, physically restricted or visually impaired, unsure or over-excited – CSTX think everyone deserves to experience the freedom and fun of being out on the water.

    Owned by charity, Children’s Sailing Trust (CST), who have been helping disadvantaged children get access to the water since 1997, CST Experiences operates all adult and youth sailing courses and powerboating from both the beautiful Helford River location, and have their HQ at the new purpose-built site at Trevassack Lake, where the majority of accessible watersports activities and land-based events take place, just ten minutes from Helston on the Lizard peninsula.

    The lake site is fully accessible, from the free car park, through all the buildings and activities, with adapted craft and two Changing Places Facilities (high dependency heated changing rooms).

    There is also a Cafe at the lake that serves food and drinks with a view over the lake. Food is supplied by the Cornish Food Hub and menus are available on the website so you can use a screen reader if needed.     Parking

    From the disabled spaces in the car park there are level pathways through the whole site, leading around the water and through the buildings – there are no stepped thresholds.

    There are wheelchair-accessible fixtures, 2 Changing Places Facilities, high dependency heated changing rooms, a variety of seating options in the lounge and classrooms and Lockers of various heights and sizes.

    The activity staff are professionally trained, with experience of teaching young people and adults with special educational needs and disabilities. They offer integrated watersports sessions with adapted equipment so visitors with physical disabilities can participate in group sessions, and focused sessions so that visitors with special educational needs can learn at a pace that is right for them. There various dinghies, kayaks, paddleboards, even a floating, multiple accessible activites and a 2-point hoist (and slings).

    The Learning Centre is fully accessible, having designed with adaptability in mind, and its classroom can be transformed into a learning space, dining area, games room or community venue.
