    Marazion Museum - a step back in time
    Marazion’s town museum is housed on the ground floor of the Town Hall in what was once the Marazion & District Fire Brigade’s headquarters.

    The back section of the complex was once the town gaol (jail), and a typical cell has been reconstructed there.

    In the late 19th Century, Marazion lost its municipal status. With remarkable foresight, a Town Trust was set up to preserve the town regalia and other artefacts, including documents and manuscripts. This continuity of record means that the museum now offers a fascinating exhibition about historic Marazion to be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.

    The Museum also houses a unique exhibition devoted to the HMS Warspite, a Queen Elizabeth-class battleship.  She served in both world wars, earning the most battle honours ever awarded to an individual ship in the Royal Navy, including the most awarded for actions in the Second World War.

    Parking is available in the many car parks in the town itself.

    Toilet facilities

    There are no toilets in the museum. The nearest accessible public loo is based at Folly Fields, a short walk away, near the carpark.

    Accessibiliy Guide

    Marazion Museum is located in the ground floor of the town hall. Its a small museum but bursting with interesting local artifacts. There is currently no wheelchair access but care has been taken to consider other areas of accessibility and dogs are welcome.

    Mobility / Wheelchair Support

    Currently there isn't wheelchair access into the venue and caution should be taken with the steps leading up to the entrance.

    Within the museum the flooring for the majority level with no trip hazards, highlighted steps, handrails through out a ramp within the main room.

    There is a small seating area found at the HMS Warspite display.

    Vision Impairment Support

    The venue has a number of steps but all have highlighted nosing. There are handrails throughout and some of the displays are interactive with atmospheric noise via talking tins.

    The lighting is consistent throughout other than within the cell.

    Generally signs around the museum are clear, well designed and at a height in which a majority can see.

    Learning Support

    There are signs with translations for key words and QR codes with audio to demonstrate pronunciation.
