    Detailed description

    The Longboat inn comprises of a large bar and restaurant on the ground floor, with one step into the restaurant (Ramp available). Access is level on entry and throughout with hard wood floors. Toilets are not wheelchair accessible however there are radar access toilets just 30 metres across the road. They have a lovely courtyard beer garden with half level ground and half up a few steps. Home made, locally sourced food is available in the bar and restaurant between 7am and 9pm with gluten free and vegetarian options available.

    17 ensuite bedrooms are upstairs including family rooms. Unfortunately due to the design of the building, the rooms are up one or two flights of stairs with no lift. If limited mobility please ask for a first floor room to lower the amount of stairs to climb. All rooms have freeview TV’s, free WIFI and tea and coffee making facilities.

    Situated at the bottom end of Penzance town and very close to the train and bus stations it is a perfect base for exploring the town. Penzance has a range of shops and cafes and a beautiful wheelchair accessible promenade.

    Parking

    Although there isn't parking on-site there is a large council owned carpark at the harbour only 30 metres away. This car park is tarmacced and level, has a ramp exit on both entrances/exits and also on the right hand side of the carpark next to Sullivans diner. It is well lit and has CCTV.

    Toilets are situated at the rear of the bar area with level access. Unfortunately they are not wheelchair accessible due to the layout of the building. However there are Radar toilets across the road 30 metres away.

    All rooms have en-suite bathrooms
    Door opening to the bathroom is 710mm
    The toilet height is 420mm
    The wash basin height is 760mm
    Turn taps on the washbasin and bath/ shower
    Non-slip laminate flooring
    In rooms where there is a bath, the showers are situated inside the bath area.

    Mobility / Wheelchair Support

    The entrance is on a flat pavement, there is level access into the building. Once inside there is a main bar which is level access with plenty of room between tables and at the bar area. To the left is a restaurant area which has a small step (ramp available)

    The bar and restaurant have a mixture of upright chairs with and without arm rests.

    The beer garden is separated into two areas, lower level is wheelchair accessible, the higher level is up 5 steps.

    The bedrooms are all located upstairs, unfortunately due to the building design they are not wheelchair friendly. first floor rooms are up one flight of stairs, second floor rooms are up 2 flights of stairs. People with limited mobility please ask for a first floor room on booking. Luggage assistance is available and luggage storage is available on day of arrival/departure.

    Vision Impairment Support

    Staff are available to help read menus and specials boards. There is level hardwood flooring throughout. There is a slight ramp at the entrance to the building with double doors leading into a large L shaped room, to the left is the restaurant accessed by one small step. Ahead of the entrance is the bar and tables leading through to the beer garden.

    There is natural daylight supplemented with wall lighting and table candles.

    Tv’s in all rooms are equipped with audio description.

    Hearing Impairment Support

    Subtitles are always available on all tvs in both the bar and the hotel rooms.

    Tv are on in the bar but sound is only on during major sport or other events. There is generally background music in the restaurant.

    During busy times such as live sporting events the bar can get loud, day to day there are peaceful spaces to be found with the option of three rooms to sit in and also the beer garden.

    Autism support

    Lighting is natural daylight supplemented with wall lighting. Candles are lit on the tables.

    TVs in the bar area only have sound during major sport or other events.

    There is background music in the resturant area.

    All of their bedrooms offer the following: Lighting as above, good colour contrast between the floor, walls and doors, short pile carpet, all bedding is non-feather.
